XII МАЛЮЙ.UA (PAINT.UA)

To the New Year holidays, from December 25, 2024 to February 20, 2025, in the Central Park of Culture and Recreation of Kyiv near the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People, an exhibition of the winners of the XII International Art Festival PAINT.UA "GENERATIONS OF WAR. THE THIRD YEAR" was held. This is the ninth stage of the art marathon "GENERATIONS OF WAR", which began in December last year and is planned to be held until the end of the war. Over the year of the art marathon, more than 800 artists from 18 countries took part in it: Ukraine, USA, Canada, Albania, Montenegro, Romania, Poland, Latvia, France, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Greece, Great Britain, Italy, North Macedonia, Israel, and the Czech Republic. The Art Marathon is a powerful project of cultural diplomacy, which reveals that even in difficult times of war, the capital of Ukraine is a center of international culture.

The works of participants from Ukraine reflect the beauty and strength of spirit of the Ukrainian people, who are currently fighting for their freedom. Artists of all ages participate in the project - from children to the elderly, who are currently experiencing the war. The Art Marathon is art therapy for Ukrainians, it collects artistic testimonies of the war and shows them to the world, calling for support for Ukraine in its difficult struggle against the invader. Also, through the creativity of Ukrainians, the world sees the most valuable feature of humanity - to transform horror and pain through creativity into beauty.

The project shows the art of war, as it presents the artworks of people who have been living under bombs for the third year. Among them are military personnel who are at the front, children whose relatives are fighting, professional artists and people who first took up fine arts only after the war began.

The art marathon is part of the large-scale International Art Festival PAINT.UA.WAR, the only cultural project in Ukraine that has been going on without a break since the first week of the full-scale invasion. The project shows the dynamics of the mental and spiritual state of society during the war, reflected in art. This is the only project in the world that analyzes the change in consciousness of different generations during modern war through art.

During the full-scale invasion, more than 50 exhibitions and cultural diplomacy projects with artworks by PAINT.UA.WAR participants took place, which were presented in 17 countries around the world. The project is organized by the Association for the Development of International Relations ADRUM with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kyiv City Government.
